Although Robert and Vicki lived and grew up in very different religious backgrounds and geographical areas of the US, they both were greatly influenced in the early years of their lives by the stories that missionaries who were close to their families shared with them. They both had a desire and dream to go to other countries and meet people of other cultures.
It was in the mid-1970s during the “Jesus Movement” that they individually had an encounter with Jesus and came to know Him as their Lord and Savior. They began to see the people of the world through the eyes of the One who came to save the lost. A passion was ignited in each of them to tell the untold and reach the unreached with the Good News of God’s unfailing love and pursue the training and ordination needed to fulfill their individual callings to ministry.
In 1982 Robert and Vicki met while serving the Lord on the staff of a growing church in Virginia. They married and began to work together, traveling and ministering in small towns and churches in the mountains and valleys of Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. They helped to plant new churches, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and reaching out to people in need. They helped to establish and pastor a thriving church located in western Maryland. They then were Founders and Senior Pastors of Jubilee Christian Center/aka Faith Christian Fellowship of Alexandria, VA, a dynamic, multicultural Word of Faith Church in the Washington, DC area. As pastors, they taught their congregations the importance of supporting and being involved in world missions by Giving and by Going. In June of 1990 they resigned this pastorate to become full-time overseas missionaries. AND THUS BEGAN A NEW ADVENTURE IN A NEW LAND that led to the birth of Unreached Villages Ministries, Int’l (UVMI).
